WHAT TO EXPECT/YOUR FIRST VISIT:
You will be greeted by one of our friendly reception staff and be asked to fill in some health forms about the reason you are visiting us, as well as your overall health. These forms take about 10 minutes to fill in, so it is helpful if you arrive early to do so.
You will then proceed to meeting one of our chiropractors where she will discuss your complaint with you to have a better understanding of your presenting condition. We then perform an examination, range of motion, orthopaedic and neurological testing, to see how you are moving and how your nerves are functioning to have a detailed explanation of your spinal health. Dr Paije or Dr Alison will then discuss her findings with you and if she believes that she can help you treatment options will also be discussed. Depending on these findings, you may or may not be sent for x-rays which are covered under Medicare. Often a treatment is performed at the initial consultation to alleviate some pain if the chiropractor believes chiropractic is right for you. However, sometimes we may need more time to process your case depending on the complexity.
This first visit takes approximately 45 minutes.
What to bring to your first visit:
Any recent X-rays, CT scans or MRI images – This may help us with your diagnosis and save you from needing more images.
Ensure you wear comfortable clothing to allow a thorough examination. The chiropractor will take you through a variety of movements which may be easier to perform in comfortable clothing.
If you have a private health card, bring this with you as you may be covered for part of your chiropractic care. We have HICAPS facility in the clinic which allows us to claim for you at the appointment.
SECOND AND REGULAR VISITS:
If a treatment was not performed at the initial visit, one will be performed at the second visit suited to your case. A standard appointment is normally 15 minutes in length however, a long consultation may be required or requested. A long consultation is normally 30 minutes. Dry needling and Exercise therapy require a long appointment. After a series of treatments, your chiropractor will often review your case and will perform many of the tests completed in the initial visit to be sure your condition is progressing and we are accomplishing positive results.
